For a long time, the modern advantages of technology have allowed many businesses to effectively manage workloads, remotely. With so many options readily available, from project management software to cloud content storage and integrative messaging platforms - there really is something for just about everything.
At Ouma, as a busy outsourced marketing agency, we often work remotely to provide our clients with continuous support and fresh new content but for many businesses remote working is a new venture. During the current pandemic of Covid-19, latest Government advice and guidelines suggest that where possible, staff work from home. This means that many businesses are now left with no option but to close the main office doors. Thankfully, there’s a wealth of resources out there and as regular users of many remote working platforms, we thought we’d use this blog post to share a few of them with you.
Asana
Asana is a web and mobile application designed to help teams organise, track and manage their workloads. With over 50,000 teams currently signed up, it’s one of the most popular remote working platforms available. Asana allows businesses to build project plans, co-ordinate and delegate tasks and hit those all-important deadlines. With calendar features that allow you to set up both start dates and due dates; it is a great way to ensure everyone is working to the same schedule. Asana also features a private messaging function, project management features and provision to add attachments and files. It’s packed with permissions and privacy controls so business owners can maintain authority over lists, tasks and workloads.
Slack
So, at Ouma – we use slack daily. It’s our go-to place to primarily communicate with each other and keep everyone up to date with the latest developments on each of our clients and projects.
The idea behind Slack is to replace the standard email communications within a company and instead provide a platform where employees can communicate with one another in streamlined, organised conversations that are easily accessible. Allowing colleagues to work together in real-time, users can share documents and files with one another both collectively and privately.
Box
Simple in name, significant for business. Box is a cloud content management and file sharing service for businesses that offers seamless collaboration between employees. Security is no issue with Box, as they’ve developed advanced security controls, intelligent threat detection and complete information governance, so your most sensitive and private files stay protected. Files are available at any time you need them without taking up space on your own hard drive!
Teamwork
A brilliant platform where you can automate workloads and deliver projects faster. Teamwork offers multiple collaboration-enhancing features to make project management both more efficient and quicker. With features that enable you to access a Gantt chart view of your projects, a personalised dashboard and a messaging function that allows you to communicate with colleagues, Teamwork is a fantastic tool for any kind of business.
Office 365
Well, here’s one we’re all familiar with, but it’s made the list as it’s a must have for remote working. Office 365 is an integrated experience of apps and services all designed to make business tasks easier. With apps including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and so much more – it’s an essential part of a business tool kit. Office 365 has its own email app which means you can keep the conversation flowing between colleagues and customers.
Zoom
Zoom is a leading modern enterprise video communications company that provides remote conferencing services that combines video calls, online meetings and mobile collaboration. It can be used to communicate with colleagues during periods of remote working and is an excellent platform to host meetings with customers when you can’t allocate the time or resources to meet in person.
So, there you have it – a comprehensive list of brilliant platforms that can be utilised by all kinds of companies and organisations. At Ouma, we often consult with businesses to integrate systems and optimise workflows. We understand that business strategies need to adapt to the current situation and we’re currently providing new solutions for many of our clients.
