You're here because you love us, or at least you love what we do. If it isn't that, then you've accidentally stumbled here and found yourself trapped in the written ramblings of our team - Well, welcome - it's truly great to have you here!
The good news is, if you are here because of our initial assumption, you'll be overjoyed to know we're giving you the opportunity to get to know us better. Oh yes, each and every one of us.
Over the next couple of months, we'll be bringing you personal insights into the team, offering you a brief glimpse into what we're all about. Contrary to popular belief, it's not all about marketing metrics, strategies and kick-ass campaigns (although, that is pretty much our day job!). Here, we're a multi-dimensional team of fun-loving, eccentric, dynamic and sometimes, sophisticated, human beings and we'd love for you to get to know us.
So, where better to start?! Our Social Media Executive, Becky, decided that our Director was a pretty good subject for a personality quiz; and so, we sat him down and offered him a strong cup of coffee (no sugar and a healthy dose of Oatmilk please!) and grilled him for entertainment purposes. We're pleased to say he didn't disappoint, and here's everything you need to know about Ouma's very own creative mastermind, Ross Jones.
(PS: It might have been a little optimistic to open this with holiday preferences - Have you even seen our task list for the next twelve months?!)
Meet Ross Jones, Director at Ouma.
Describe your perfect holiday...
My perfect holiday would be a two-week road trip from west coast USA to East coast, followed by two weeks in the Bahamas.
Not after all that much then, but best take your road map and sun-tan solution...
What are you most looking forward to in 2021?
Looking forward to finally going on holiday after six years! I'm also looking forward to getting an office and seeing our team develop and continue to grow.
Seems he really is set on that holiday after all, hmm...
Describe your perfect Sunday... A nice long lie-in to start, followed by a full cooked breakfast. Then a long walk on the beach with Rachel and the dogs (Millie and Riley), followed by an evening meal at La Braseria, Swansea, before going home and watching a film.
Sounds perfectly perfect to us.
If you could have brunch with one historical figure who would it be and why?
It would have to be Walt Disney. The man was a visionary, full of creativity and against all odds, brought joy to millions of people across the globe. He'd be such an interesting guy to speak with.
What was your favourite childhood toy?
I was obsessed with toy cars. I had boxes upon boxes of them - and used to line them up and 'drive' them around the house and garden.
(We can testify that Ross' toy car practice has not helped to perfect his real-life driving skills!)
What is your favourite decade?
I'm a 90's kid, but I always loved the idea of experiencing the 70's and 80's. Everything seemed so much fun with the rise of disco and pop culture, and it was an era of cultural change where social progressive values began to take hold. Plus, the technological innovations that began in these decades meant that people were more in touch with reality, while being able to experience the evolution of technology.. I would have loved to live through those decades.
Sorry, you just missed the boat, but you got Yoyo's and pocket slime aliens instead..
What would the title of your autobiography be?
'The truth about tenacity.'
Deep!
If you could only have three apps on your smart phone, what would they be?
If I could only have three apps for my smartphone, I wouldn't have a smartphone.
I’d go back to the classic Nokia 3310 - I'd just need to be careful to not get too addicted to snake!
Could you expect any other response from a 90's kid?!
What is your favourite TV series?
I have two favourites; 'How I Met Your Mother' and 'The Big Bang Theory'. Throughout my career, I have found that comedy TV helps me to relax, so I always find myself watching a few episodes after work to help me switch off for the day.
If you won the lottery, what would you do?
Step 1: Pay off all debts for the family
Step 2: Buy our dream country cottage and save enough for financial freedom
Step 3: Create multiple charitable projects
(Obviously, he'd treat the team to a classic, no-expenses-spared work do, - but since he forgot to mention it, Ross, here's your reminder for when you get your hands on that golden winning ticket!)
So, there you have it - 10 quick-fire questions with the beauty and brains behind Ouma! Ross, as always, you've been a legend - but your time's up and it’s onto the next.
Who will be second in line to the Ouma hot seat? Keep checking back to find out.
