Specialist Swansea Agency secure Growth funding as part of Management Buy-Out

Updated: Dec 6, 2019

Swansea based marketing agency, Ouma Group, has been acquired in a management buyout led by CEO, Ross Jones, advised by Leanne Thomas of Greenaway Scott.

Ouma Group launched in 2017 with the use of start-up funding from Thirty-Four Capital. Since then, the business has grown from strength to strength, rising to work with some of the biggest and most exciting brands across the Globe including the NFL, EY and Intuit in developing unique and engaging brand strategies to enhance their position as leading employer brands.

Ross Jones commented: “Since founding Ouma in 2017, we’ve not only built exciting brands for our customers, but we’ve built one for ourselves. As with any start-up, there are challenges to overcome, and I’m grateful to Dave and the team at Thirty-Four for giving us the freedom to find our feet.

"A management buy-out can be a challenging process, but I have to praise Leanne and the team at Greenaway Scott for making it an extremely smooth and secure transition. I felt supported throughout the process and would highly recommend the team for any legal advice on corporate matters.”

Ross secured the funding from Development Bank of Wales who’s mission is to unlock economic potential in Wales and enhance the local economy by providing sustainable, effective finance.

As part of their plans for the future, Ouma will continue to consult as a strategic brand partner with leading Global organisations whilst applying their knowledge and experience to rapidly grow specialist SME businesses across South Wales.

Dave Dargan, CEO of Thirty-Four commented: “It’s been great working with Ross and his team to create an exciting and forward-thinking marketing business. We are proud to have supported them in creating and growing their business and we wish Ouma the very best of luck in the next stage of their journey”.

The Corporate team at Greenaway Scott, led by its Head of Swansea & West Office, Corporate Director Leanne Thomas, said:

“Greenaway Scott were delighted to act on this deal. It was a pleasure to work closely with Ross and we wish him and Ouma the greatest of success moving forwards with its new ownership structure. This deal was highly satisfying for me on a personal level as we at GS are passionate about working with home grown Welsh talent.”
